Event development / Desfășurarea evenimentului :
This demo was announced on December 13th and was going to take place about a month later, so we decided to sign up for it, hoping to have the new robot concept ready by then. On December 17, our team registered for this event, all of them being very excited that we will meet the Thobor team, with whom we met and made a close friendship at the demo in Focșani, Game of Robots. 2 weeks before, the team encountered a lot of problems: from the fact that we had no return train and no parents available to bring us back home, to the fact that our robot was not working properly and was not ready to take it to the demo . However, we kept hoping that we would work out the kinks, eventually finding a way to get back. Unfortunately, our team’s engineers and programmers didn’t manage to get the robot up and running even on the last day before the demo. Thus, we made the decision together to participate in this event, despite the fact that there was still a little until the regional, and we presented ourselves without a robot. We notified the organizers though, to know exactly which teams to rely on for the matches that were to take place.
We boarded the train around 8:00, at which point we started to discuss the progress of the day and each other’s tasks. During the drive we tried to comply with the theme of the event, namely the series Wednesday, by painting our hands and faces just like the main characters of the series. Not having the robot with us, the two engineers present turned into the collaborators of our PR department, thus our job is to have fun with the other teams and at the same time to accumulate new information in order to finish the robot as quickly as possible. We didn’t even hesitate to participate in the little game with tasks, designed by the Thobor team, being inspired by our team’s little game made in Focșani. After the qualification matches in the semi-finals, our team came up with a new idea, inviting the other teams to a game of “ninja”, to have fun together and to forget for a few moments of competition and rivalry.
At the end of the day, our team made wonderful friendships with wonderful people. Although we may not have made the best impression due to the fact that we showed up without a robot less than a month before the regional, the organizing team welcomed us with open arms, and then we received advice and encouragement from the other teams present at this demo. Focusing only on the activity of the other teams, we left at the end of the day with many new ideas for game mechanics or tactics, this day turned out to be a successful day and full of beautiful experiences.
Acest demo a fost anunțat pe 13 decembrie, urmând să se desfășoare aproximativ o lună mai târziu, drept pentru care am luat decizia de a ne înscrie, sperând ca noul concept de robot să fie gata până atunci. Pe 17 decembie echipa noastră a făcut înscrierea la acest eveniment, toți fiind foarte entuziasmați pentru că urma să ne vedem cu echipa Thobor, cu care ne-am cunoscut și am legat o strânsă prietenie la demo-ul de la Focșani, Game of Robots. Cu 2 săptămâni înainte de demo, echipa a întâmpinat foarte multe probleme: începând cu faptul că nu aveam tren de întoarcere și nici părinți disponibili să ne aducă înapoi acasă, până la faptul că robotul nostru nu funcționa cum trebuie și nu era pregătit pentru a-l lua la demo. Cu toate acestea, am tot sperat că vom rezolva problemele, într-un final găsind o soluție pentru a ne întoarce înapoi. Din păcate, inginerii și programatorii echipei noastre nu au reușit să pună robotul la punct nici până în ultima zi înainte de demo. Astfel, am luat împreună decizia de a participa la acest eveniment, în ciuda faptului că mai era puțin până la regională, și ne-am prezentat fără robot. Am anunțat totuși organizatorii, pentru a ști exact pe ce echipe să se bazeze pentru meciurile care urmau să aibă loc.
Ne-am urcat în tren în jurul orei 08:00, moment în care am început să discutăm despre desfășurarea zilei respective și despre task-urile fiecăruia. În timpul drumului am încercat să ne conformăm cu tema evenimentului și anume serialul Wednesday, pictându-ne pe mâini și pe față la fel ca personajele principale ale serialului. Neavând robotul cu noi, cei doi ingineri prezenți s-au transformat în colaboratorii departamentului nostru de PR, astfel treaba noastră fiind de a ne distra alături de celelalte echipe și totodată de a acumula noi informații pentru a reuși să terminăm robotul cât mai repede. Nu am ezitat nici să participăm la joculețul cu task-uri, conceput de echipa Thobor, inspirat după jocul echipei noastre de la demo-ul din Focșani. După meciurile de calificare în semifinale, echipa noastră a venit cu o nouă idee, invitând celelalte echipe la un joc de “ninja”, pentru a ne distra împreună și pentru a uita timp de câteva momente de competiție și rivalitate.
La finalul acestei zile, echipa noastră a legat prietenii minunate alături de oameni speciali.
Cu toate că, poate, nu am făcut cea mai bună impresie din cauza faptului că am apărut fără robot cu mai puțin de o lună înainte de regională, echipa organizatoare ne-a primit cu brațele deschise, urmând mai apoi să primim sfaturi și încurajări de la celelalte echipe prezente la acest demo.
Focusându-ne doar pe activitatea celorlalte echipe, am plecat la finalul zilei cu multe idei noi pentru mecanisme sau tactici de joc, această zi dovedindu-se a fi, într-un final, o zi reușită și plină de experiențe frumoase.
