Event development / Desfășurarea evenimentului:
On the last day of registration, our team decided to participate in this demo. In the week before, our team’s programmers did their best to solve the code problems in order to be able to take part in the matches of the day. After many hours spent in the robotics room, we managed to complete the programming part of the robot. Also, for this demo we prepared the mini-toy with 10 tasks specific to our team.
Around 8:30 we arrived at the University where we were greeted by the Eastern Foxes. We were directed to our booth, at which point we began setting up our promotional materials and setting up the spider. After we passed the robot inspection and the driver meeting was over, the PR department handed out the mini-toy to the other teams, the engineers and programmers doing the last tests of the robot before the matches started.
Unfortunately, things did not go as we expected. Because the programming was completed very shortly before the code demo, the drivers did not have time to train and thus we could not perform during the matches. Out of the six qualifying matches, we managed to win only two, but that did not demotivate us and we are sure that things will go much better from now on.
After this demo I realized how important training is and what it means to finish everything on time. Although the results weren’t outstanding, this demo was one of the most important activities we participated in for team development. Being the first event we went to with the new bot concept, we didn’t make it past the qualifiers, but we realized the pluses and minuses we have. In addition to all this, we had fun together with the other participating teams solving different tasks or completing certain challenges. Participating in the last demo before the regional, we tried to make this day a special one, in which STEM values prevail.
În ultima zi de înscrieri, echipa noastră s-a decis să participe la acest demo. În săptămâna de dinainte, programatorii echipei noastre au făcut tot posibilul să rezolve problemele codului pentru a putea lua parte la meciurile din ziua respectivă. După multe ore petrecute în sala de robotică, am reușit să finalizăm partea de programare a robotului. De asemenea, pentru acest demo ne-am pregătit și cu mini-joculețul cu 10 task-uri specific echipei noastre.
În jurul orei 8:30 am ajuns la Universitate, unde am fost întâmpinați de cei de la Eastern Foxes. Am fost îndrumați către standul nostru, moment în care am început să ne așezăm materialele promoționale și să montăm spider-ul. După ce am trecut de inspecția robotului și s-a terminat întâlnirea driverilor, departamentul de PR a împărțit celorlalte echipe mini-joculețul, inginerii și programatorii făcând ultimele teste robotului înainte să înceapă meciurile.
Din nefericire, lucrurile nu au mers așa cum ne așteptam. Pentru că programarea a finalizat cu foarte puțin timp înainte de demo codul, driverii nu au avut timp să se antreneze și astfel nu am putut da randament în timpul meciurilor. Din cele șase meciuri de calificare, am reușit să câștigăm doar două, dar acest lucru nu ne-a demotivat și suntem siguri că lucrurile vor merge mult mai bine de acum încolo.
În urma acestui demo am realizat cât de important este antrenamentul și ce înseamnă să termini totul la timp. Deși rezultatele nu au fost remarcabile, acest demo a fost unul dintre cele mai importante activități la care am participat pentru dezvoltarea echipei. Fiind primul eveniment la care ne-am dus cu noul concept de robot, nu am reușit să trecem de meciurile de calificare, dar ne-am dat seama de minusurile și plusurile pe care le avem. Pe lângă toate acestea, ne-am distrat alături de celelalte echipe participante rezolvând diferite task-uri sau îndeplinind anumite provocări. Participând la ultimul demo înainte de regională, am încercat să facem din această zi una specială, în care valorile STEM să primeze.
