Event development / Desfășurarea evenimentului:
I got in touch with the people from Interact Buzău because we had talked some time ago about organizing an event this year. I decided this was the right time to do it. Another team from Buzău county, Boogey Bots Rm. Sărat, managed to qualify for the national stage of the FIRST competition. We thought it would be a good idea to invite them too.
We already had two robots ready, ball launchers. We found it interesting to do an activity with them as well, but also to bring a new element. Thus, we tied into this competition season by bringing a paper airplane trial.
I arrived at the venue an hour before the start to set up the room. We set up the terrain, tested the robots and prepared the candybar. From 16:00 the teams started to arrive. I allowed more time to gather and started with a speech. We presented our activity, the purpose of the event and the schedule. To begin with, each team will travel the route 2 times, once with each robot. Their goal is to get as many points as possible.
The teams did well. The atmosphere was competitive and supported by the commentators. Right after a short break where we sweetened up and played guitar, the second rehearsal began. Within it, everyone had two stages to get points: public vote and performance. The entrants had half an hour to work together to make the best and most attractive airplane. We have provided them with colored sheets, pencils, cards and stickers. After the time was up, all the planes were presented, and each participant voted for their favorite. Each vote brought a bonus of 5 points. The way it flies also mattered a lot. Therefore, each team was called to the back of the hall from where they were to be launched. For each row of seats he passed, they earned 5 more points. At the end, these scores were to be added to those from round 1 and the winners determined.
We did not expect to have a tie situation. Two of the teams achieved the same scores in both the robot and airplane challenge. In this case, an eliminatory test was needed, another launch of the planes. The awards ceremony followed. We decided to have 3 categories: for aircraft performance, route performance and overall results. Everyone was delighted and we managed to make an event that made everyone happy. During the event, we had a box where anyone could donate, with the aim of helping disabled children in the city.
Am luat legătura cu cei de la Interact Buzău deoarece vorbisem în urmă cu ceva timp să organizăm un eveniment anul acesta. Am decis că acesta este momentul potrivit pentru a-l face. O altă echipă din județul Buzău, Boogey Bots Rm. Sărat, a reușit să se califice la etapa națională a competiției FIRST. Ne-am gândit că ar fi o idee bună să îi invităm și pe ei.
Noi aveam deja pregătiți doi roboți, lansatoare de mingi. Ni s-a părut interesant să facem o activitate tot cu ei, dar să aducem și un element nou. Astfel, ne-am legat de acest sezon de competiție, aducând o probă cu avioane de hârtie.
Am ajuns la locație cu o oră înainte de începere pentru a așeza sala. Am montat terenul, am testat roboții și am pregătit candybar-ul. De la ora 16:00 au început să vină echipele. Am lăsat mai mult timp pentru a se strânge și am început cu un discurs. Am prezentat activitatea noastră, scopul evenimentului și programul desfășurării. Pentru început, fiecare echipă va parcurge traseul de 2 ori, câte o dată cu fiecare robot. Scopul lor este să obțină cât mai multe puncte.
Echipele s-au descurcat bine. Atmosfera a fost competitivă și susținută de comentatori. Imediat după o scurtă pauză în care ne-am îndulcit și am cântat la chitară, a început a doua probă. În cadrul acesteia, fiecare avea două etape de a obține puncte: votul publicului și performanța. Cei înscrși au avut o jumătate de oră la dispoziție să lucreze împreună pentru a realiza cel mai bun și atractiv avion. Le-am pus la dispoziție foi colorate, creioane, carioci și stickere. După scurgerea timpului, toate avioanele au fost prezentate, urmând ca fiecare participant să își voteze favoritul. Fiecare vot aducea un bonus de 5 puncte. De asemenea, a contat mult și modul în care zboară. De aceea, fiecare echipă a fost chemată în spatele sălii de unde trebuiau lansate. Pentru fiecare rând de scaune peste care trecea, câștigau încă 5 puncte. La final, aceste punctaje urmau să fie adunate la cele de la proba 1 și să se stabilească câștigătorii.
